Seasons Of Fitness!

What season are you in when it comes to your health and fitness?

I love all seasons.  Winter is great because it reminds me of fireplaces and ice on the rooftops being slowly melted away as the day goes on.  Having a nice cup of tea and snuggling up with a blanket. Winter is just cozy.

{by the way it NEVER snows here!!!  This was the 1st and last time I’ve seen it lol}

Spring is awesome because it feels great out and everything is new.  There is excitement in the air and we are ready for the warmer temps!!!

Summer is awesome because you can enjoy the warmth of the sun on your skin and enjoy all the fun activities summer can offer!

I must say though, by August most of us are ready for fall! How about y’all?

Harvest time!!!  This is when you reap the benefits of all the hard work you have done.  It allows you time off work to reflect on the many blessings you have and you have ample time to enjoy your family.

You also have the never ending pumpkin smell and all the great colors that fall offers. I love it! I must say it is one of my favorite times of year… and not because it’s my birthday season 🙂

{btw This was at Little People Big World in Organ!!  Yes I asked to go there for my 28th birthday}

Some of us may be in the spring time of our fitness journey.  We are excited about our journey and are starting to see some results. This season is super fun!! Not only do most of us jump in headfirst ready to go but this is where I have people who aren’t just listening , they are doing it too.  What does just listening mean?  Well, it’s when people just hear what you are telling them to do but not actually doing it.  This time in our fitness journey we are doers.  People ready to take on their fitness goals head on!  This time in our fitness journey we have planted many seeds in our lives to become a healthier person.  Meaning we are eating better and being more active.  We are making choices that will get us to our goals!!

Where as others are in the summer time phase.  Excited at first but ready for something else.  This is normally when you see plateaus.  To me this season is where we become a little bored and ready to do something else. We are tired of nurturing our seed.  It takes to much work.  It’s hot and our plants are dying.  People begin to lose their momentum.  Most begin to think they are tired of all this eating right and working out stuff. Some of us even give up. Remember though…..If you are tired of starting over, quit giving up!

Seasons Of Fitness!

This is just a season and a new one is around the corner.  I promise!!!  Choose your hard! Hang on and keep taking that one single step of faith.  You can do this!!!

Then there are others who are in the fall season and reaping the befits of their hard work.  They feel great and some are off medications that they may have been chained to for years.  Most are down dress sizes and can move around better.  They are seeing life in a whole new way.  Don’t be jealous of this person.  Remember it takes a lot of hard work to get to this season.

There is a lot of one single steps at a time.  To get here it means dying to your old habits and taking up new healthy life changing habits.  Sorry friends, it means no more sweets every day. No more lounging in front of the T.V. when ever you want.  It means actually  staying committed to being a doer.  {like I mentioned above}  It takes hard work.  It means not just holding on to your seed and never planting it.  It means nurturing it.  It means caring for it even when you don’t want to.  and holding on to that dream of reaching your goals!

Remember this.. don’t give up.  I say it all the time.  No matter where you are in your journey there will come a time when you get bored.  Hang on with tooth and nails. Try not to give up without a fight.  Sometimes you may not feel like working out and that’s okay.  Just do really well in your eating habits.  Other times you may be splurging a little.  It’s okay just… do extra cardio.  You will not always be on fire for fitness.

You must remember though, that becoming healthy is not an easy journey.  It does not happen overnight.  We want results yesterday.  Be realistic in your expectations. If your in the Spring time of your fitness journey and you are excited about the newness of it.  Great, keep it up but if summer is approaching and you start feeling board.  Hang in there.  Results are near. Keep pruning your leaves by cutting out cokes, or sweets.  You may need to tweak your cardio habits or add some weight training in here or there.

These are all the things I have to keep telling myself as well.  {Especially when I was sick! Read about my fitness journey during cancer HERE}  I want to run fast NOW!  I don’t want to have to do speed work.  I don’t want to have to do long runs.  I wanted it yesterday.  I will admit it gets very mundane and discouraging at times, but if I reflect on where I was and where I am now in my training I feel much better.  Look at where you are.  Are you stronger? Can you breathe easier? Do you have more energy?  If the answer is yes then go up in weights and go a little farther in your cardio.  Your training may be too easy! 🙂

No, with all seriousness be excited about your achievements.  If you haven’t started working out but you are thinking about it, congratulations you are there!  That’s fruit in my eyes now take action.  Remember this is a fitness journey.

Seasons Of Fitness!

There will be highs and there will be lows.  Talk yourself through the lows and enjoy your highs.  I leave you with this to think about… Commitment + Constancy = Change. Before you know it you will have your entire family asking for more fruits and veggies!!

Seasons Of Fitness!

Where are you in your journey?

Let me know I would love to hear.  I would love to help or love to just listen.  I know there is times you need to vent…..  I’m here!

Have a great day and remember to SWEAT!!
