How To Prevent Shin Splints
Shin splints are annoying and a really hard to get rid of once you have them.  Try these simple exercises to try and avoid them.

One good way to help prevent shin splints is to do ankle circles or draw the alphabet with your toes.  Also do heal toe taps.  Try to do this 2-3 times a day for about 30 seconds each direction along with stretching your calves.  This is a great tool to try.

 

If you do have shinsplints rest on your days off, and ice them after each workout. {tip: Freeze a dixie cup with water. Then peal the top inch off cup and give yourself an ice massage.}  You may want to also try taking a Tylenol if needed.

Do not forget to check out your shoes.  I love these

but they may not work for you! New shoes could eliminate shinsplints all together. Remember it is a good idea to get new shoes every 3-6 months.  It is best to have someone look at your feet and see if your foot supinates or pronates.  Also try buying them a half size bigger.  Your shoes may end up being a little more expensive, but it makes a world of difference.  I know Luke’s Locker does this and if you are a current Humble Area Adventure Boot Camper you get 10 % off!! 🙂
