All It Takes Is Determination!!
I teach 9th grade Youth and absolutely love it!!! This week our study was over sacrificing. Hmm. Not a word most of us really like. But it does make you think.
Everything we do is a sacrifice. We buy a vehicle and we sacrifice our money. We work more and we sacrifice family time. We start working out and we sacrifice our old lives to become healthier. You get the picture.
It’s never is an easy choice but we eventually are all sacrificing something.
I thought about this over the weekend while rock climbing
For me I was sacrificing the pain in my fingers, arms, and legs just to try and make it to the top. Let me tell you it looks way easier than it was.
You start out thinking you go it, but then you get to where you are literally climbing up a wall nearly parallel to the ground.
LOL It’s crazy. When my entire body was shaking and I was sweating like crazy I would ask myself if I could go anymore.
I would want to quit but some how I would find that next grip. That next footing to keep going. The key was to not look down or sit too long. You had to just keep going and persevering. Don’t get me wrong Not every time would I make it to the top, but it was rewarding to know I tried my hardest.
This was my last climb. I was totally finished. I loved how my friend AP was telling me that the worst that could happen is that I would just fall LOL
I felt the need to share all that to say that sometimes in our fitness journey we are tired and shaky We find it almost impossible to keep going. You may find that your knees are wobbly. Your body is aching and you wish you could just keep eating what you want and no have to exercise anymore!
Remember it’s ok to feel this way but keep going. Try hard not to look back at what you had. Sometimes when we look back we lose faith. Remember it can take 2-3 weeks for you to see change. It can take 6-8 weeks for others to see a change and it can take 3-4 months for the rest of the world to see a change.
You have to surrender to your old ways to move on. It isn’t supposed to be super easy because not working out is easier. Going through a drive through is easier. Using a remote for the T.V. and garage door is easier That’s why they were invented. 🙂
Remember this journey is not meant to be a walk in the park. It’s meant to change you. It’s meant to make you stronger and with that comes sacrifices.
What do you think? Have you had that knee shaking experience Are you there now? I would love to know where you are in your journey!
Have a great day and remember to SWEAT!!!!! 🙂
